OMEGA-3 STUDY
Revelation or Revolution -- A Comparative Study of Abductees/Experiencers & Community Comparison Control Participants

This study titled "Omega 3: Revelation or Revolution" by Robert B. LeLieuvre, Lester Velez, and Michael Freeman explores the experiences of abductees/experiencers compared to community comparison control participants.
The authors reference previous research that compared Near-Death experiences with UFO encounters and found similarities in antecedent life experiences and consequences of these encounters, as well as in the control groups for each type of experience. They suggest that encounter-prone personalities may result from heightened sensitivity to altered states, early paranormal experiences, childhood conflict and trauma, leading to dissociation as a coping mechanism. The study aims to investigate neurological factors along with the variables studied in previous research to better understand abductees/experiencers using convenience samples."
OMEGA-4 STUDY
Phase 1: Survey of Therapists Whose Clients Report Contact with Nonhuman Intelligent Beings (NHIBs)

Over the past few decades, numerous studies have aimed to understand the psychology of individuals who claim contact with nonhuman intelligent beings (NHIBs), involving abduction and medical examinations by these beings. Despite the potential trauma associated with such encounters, researchers have generally found no evidence of pervasive mental health issues or social marginality in those reporting contact. Various psychogenic explanations, like false memory syndrome, sleep paralysis, and childhood trauma, have been tested and rejected as causes of these experiences.
Instead, individuals who report contact with NHIBs may undergo an "ontological shock," akin to near-death experiences, leading to lasting changes in attitudes, values, and behavior. Their reality perspective may be permanently altered, and they may develop interests in extraterrestrial life, spirituality, and higher consciousness. The Omega-4 Study was undertaken to explore how experiencers successfully cope with and integrate these extraordinary and traumatic experiences into their lives.
Phase 1 of the study involved surveying therapists and support group facilitators to gain insight into the experiencer population's perceptions and needs and to determine their willingness to refer clients for further research on their contact experiences and related outcomes.
